37th International SAOT Workshop: Beam Shaping in AM

37th International SAOT Workshop: Beam Shaping in AM

20.04.26 – 21.04.26
Kloster Banz, 96231 Bad Staffelstein

Scope

Laser-based Additive Manufacturing (AM) is one of the most promising manufacturing technologies of the 21st century. Key challenges of AM are – among others – assuring a high quality while at the same time reducing the costs per part. In recent years, the topic “beam shaping” has continuously gained interest both in academia but also in industry. In theory, adjusted beam profiles and intensity distributions provide a powerful lever for tailoring the melting process in laser-based AM. Improved part quality and higher build rates might thus no longer be a hurdle?
The aim of this workshop is to elucidate the current state, the potentials but also the limitations of beam shaping in AM. We aim to provide a concise insight into the fundamentals of beam shaping, the application of beam shaping in different manufacturing processes as well as the simulation of beam shaping processes. By including renown speakers from industry and academia, we hope to shed a light into this important topic and clarify future research needs. Are you curious about the current state of beam shaping in AM? Feel free to join the workshop and find out!
